In addition, there is an anime, which is also incomplete. Used copies are still available of the four novels they decided to translate (above), and fan translations are also now available online for all seven of the novels and one of the side story collections. It has been out of print since TokyoPop shut down in 2011, but isn’t entirely unavailable at this point. Juuni Kokuki, also known by its English title The Twelve Kingdoms, is actually one of the better known ones for YA readers. I will be starting with one that is relatively accessible and popular. I’ve been wanting to blog about Japanese light novel series in translation, which I feel are a bit neglected in the West, for a while now.
